Middletown North’s annual blood drive was held last Thursday, February 25, 2013. The blood drive was held by Central Jersey Blood Center and organized by Karen Moore.
The drive began at 7:30 that morning and ran all the way to 1:30 in the afternoon. Within that time, students over the age of 17 (and 16 with a parents’ consent) could go down to the school bubble to donate their blood after some various blood testing for safety precautions.
Overall, the amount of students to sign up was a total of 66 people. While Karen Moore’s goal for the day was 55 people; when the blood drive was over at 1:30, a total of 56 donors had donated, and 63 units of blood were collected overall.
Unfortunately, ten donors had been turned away for various reasons throughout the day, but overall, Karen Moore said that the turnout was, “amazing”.
Karen Moore also stated, “We really appreciate Middle High School North for allow us to come here and do this, many lives will be saved because of the donors from this school”.
Middletown North holds four blood drives each year, resulting in the donations of many units of blood and hundreds of lives saved thanks to the generous students of this school.
