It’s a new year at Middletown High School North and already the competition begins between the North’s Lions and Middletown High School South’s Eagles. On that cloudy day of September 26, 2012, the annual Middletown North/South’s Rita’s fundraiser took place off on Route 35. The winner of this competition would receive a percentage of the profit made that night between both schools and the losing school would go home with nothing but a sore look on their face.
Fortunately, Middletown North was victorious in this competition between the Lions and the Eagles. Several notable figures were at the event that day, including Dr. Cartier and part of Middletown North’s Orange Wave Marching Band. Several band members, including Ryan Knight and Sophia D’ Alessandro said, “It was a low turnout in the beginning, but by the end larger groups of people began to show and things started to turn around”.
No matter what happened on that day though, Middletown North showed its true colors and school spirit to become the winner of this year’s Rita’s Scoop Off. Not only did North’s students get the chance to bask in the warm glow of victory, but they were also able to enjoy it with the refreshing taste of Rita’s Italian Ice in their paws.
