In the classic annual North vs. South Varsity Boys’ soccer game under the lights at South’s field known as “The Swamp”, North fell short losing by a score of 2-0. North had very good chances but just could not find the net.
North was coming off a 3- game winning streak, in which they defeated teams such as Manalapan, Marlboro and CBA while South was also coming into the game on a 3- game winning streak. Something had to give.
Despite a great effort, North just could not overcome a deficit of 2-0, with one of the goals being an own goal.
Before the game, North fan Sean Smith commented on the excitement building up to the game and the actual game itself, saying, “Everyone is always pumped for this game, you always are when you face your cross-town rival. Overall, they played a very good ‘grind- it- out’ game and they got some good chances but they can’t hang their heads, just got to win the next one.”
Regardless of the outcome, fans of both North and South can count on the game being very exciting and worth going to, whether they are big soccer fans soccer or not.
