This Friday, April 20, is the National Day of Silence, a day where students across the country can take a vow of silence in honor of students who lost their lives as a result of bullying and harassment because of their sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
Founded in 1996, the objective of the Day of Silence is to call attention to LGBT bullying and harassment that takes place in schools today and strives to make schools safer for all students. Participants’ vows encourage their schools to implement policies to address LGBT bullying and help LGBT students feel more comfortable during their online casinos time in school. The Day of Silence is a positive experience for all those involved, as it gives students the opportunity to better their school and the lives of their peers.
At Middletown North, students have the option to take a vow of silence by wearing a rainbow ribbon or show their support for LGBT students by wearing a purple ribbon.
