On March 14, the junior class held their annual Mr. North Pageant. The competition was hard fought, with tough competitors, but at the end, only one man could win. The victor, Casey Tumblety, won over the hearts of the judges and the audience. I had the opportunity to sit down with Casey, before Concert Band, to discuss his win, and his legacy as Mr. North.
Nick Rozzo: Were you nervous on stage, performing in front of the judges and large audience?
Casey Tumblety: I was very nervous; I even began to shake before I would go on stage.
NR: Where did you learn your Dance Dance Revolution Skills?
CT: Well, my cousins first introduced me to the game about seven years ago, and I have played on occasion since then.
NR: How did you feel immediately after you won, as Lars Nordgaard announced your name?
CT: I was insanely excited, literally jumping for joy.

NR: Did you practice a lot?
CT: I didn’t really practice a lot for the question and answer part or formal/swim wear part, but I did practice DDR a lot.
NR: If you weren’t competing who do you think should have won?
CT: I thought that Chris Wagera was hilarious.
NR: Do you find that you are recognized more often in school after your win?
CT: Yes, significantly.
NR: Did you keep the cape you got for winning?
CT: Of course, it’s hanging up in my room right now.
NR: Who persuaded you or what was your inspiration for participating in Mr. North?
CT: Well, I really wanted to, but when I was in 7th grade there was a fundraiser to fight bullying and it really inspired me to stop it. Also, I wanted to show everyone how good I could be.
