North’s boys’ basketball team defeated Brick Memorial 67-49 in the first round of the Central Jersey Group IV state tournament.
The victory improved the team’s record to 22-5 on the season, with twenty-two victories setting a school record. This is a great accomplishment for the team and a true testament to all the hard work they have put in this season.
Although the game ended in a rout, things were not easy in the beginning for the Lions, as they trailed 17-14 at the end of the first quarter. However, just as they have
done many times this season, the Lions staged a tremendous comeback and wounded up blowing out their opponent, as this time Brick Memorial fell victim.
‘North Nation’ stepped it up a notch along with the team, as Junior Anna Dinnocenzo created shirts for the rabid cheering section. The shirts were handed out during school earlier in the week and worn by most of the fans in the student section.
North’s next game is on Thursday, March 1 when they host Monroe in the second round of the Central Jersey Group IV tournament.
