On January 9th, 2012, Poetry Out Loud took place at Middletown North. During this event, participants were required to memorize a poem and recite it in front of a panel of judges. Judged on body language, recitation and various other aspects, those reciting the poems went against each other to win the title of school champion.
Once the winner is chosen, they will participate in regionals against other winners. Our school’s winner, Meghan Mahoney took the title of school champion; she recited “Famous” by Naomi Shihab Nye. Honorable mentions include Christy Fox, Monika Juzwiak, Mike Constantino, Stephanie Ferhertoi.
Regionals will begin on February 7th. We all wish Meghan the best of luck in this renound competition.
