Middletown North and the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) have been involved in a major rivalry in recent years, with many of the games being close contests.
However, this game proved to be different.
North outplayed CBA in every facet of the game, dominating throughout, en route to a 65-46 victory.
North improved their record to 10-1, still maintaining their #1 ranking in the Class A North.
The Lions were led by senior Jason Huelbig, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds, along with an assortment of “alley-oop” dunks that set the North Nation into a frenzy. Senior Tim Frawley also had a double-double, or double-digit stat totals in two different categories, with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Senior point guard Eric Youncofski set the tempo for the team while adding 7 points and 7 assists.
Junior Cody Thompson led all scorers with 19 points, as he and Huelbig combined for 23 first half points.
This was a true statement game, with North showing that they could maintain their composure in a game with such high stakes and still play great team basketball.
North’s fans, the North Nation, were at full throttle throughout the entirety of the contest, as they waited on line for tickets immediately after school ended. Their passion and intensity can only help their beloved players on the court.
Overall, this was a great win for North, and they look to maintain their #1 ranking going forward.
