As 2011 comes to a close, the number of fantastic movies that have been released is astounding. Recently, Entertainment released a list of the top ten movies of the year covering a broad spectrum of genres. Whether you agree or not with the order or the movies on the list, you have to admit this list contains some of the best!
10- Bridesmaids Introducing many new actresses to Hollywood, this hilarious comedy had every type of character imaginable, providing an excellent storyline and plenty of opportunities to laugh.
9- Super 8 With a cast composed of nearly all faceless actors, this movie sets the scene of children with a huge imagination with an equally huge plot to match.
8- Rango It seems as though any film can suceed with Johnny Depp as the star; this animated film was entertaining for children while simultaneously posing life questions for adults.
7- Roepman One of the lesser known films of the list, this film is based on the novel by Jan van Tonder about a child growing up in a strictly Christian family.
6- Blue Valentine An extremely memorable romance, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams create a storyline of a marriage slowly deteriorating.
5- True Grit A modern Western, this movie is packed with the action that is much expected in this genre of film.
4- Drive Ryan Gosling’s second film of the count down, this thriller has an awesome plot, and not to mention an even more awesome soundtrack.
3- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 This much anticipated film brought the Harry Potter series based on J.K. Rowling’s world-known novels to close; witnessing the characters grow up before the audience’s eyes, the series went out with a bang.
2- Warrior Describing family battles, two brothers competing for the same UFC prize arouses the emotions of audiences nationwide.
Drum roll please…….1- The Tree of Life Brad Pitt performed stunningly in this film; telling the tale of a boy being torn between his mother and father, it encorporates stunning imagery as well as a stunning storyline, allowing this film to take number one.
Being a year with a myriad of astonishing films, 2011 comes to a close with a huge amount of success in the theaters.
