Toms River– October will be long-remembered by the Lions as one of the best months in school history.
The team went 4-0 in the month after defeating Toms River East, 14-10. Though the team gave up 263 yards in the game, the defense tightened up when it mattered most, only allowing 10 points.
Senior running back Joe Racioppi once again was a driving force on offense, gaining177 yards on only 19 carries, while also adding a touchdown. He had great blocking up front, including from junior Mat Dickey, who played his first career game at center.
The four straight victories in October have landed the Lions with a 4-3 record and a chance to make the playoffs. In order to make the playoffs, they will need to defeat Southern Regional in their game on Friday, November 4th.
Making the playoffs was a stated goal at the beginning of the season, and the Lions are now one win away from achieving this goal. After losing their first three games, the team has shown resiliency by going undefeated in November and revitalizing their season.
Fans and students are being encouraged to wear all black to the game against Southern, in a ‘Blackout’ in order to garner spirit and support for the Lions in their biggest game of the season to date.
North hopes to continue their October roll into November and make the state playoffs.
