After a mere 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from NBA husband Kris Humphries.

While I am not surprised that this marriage did not last, I thought it would at least surpass the three month mark. Kardashian supposedly blindsided Humphries with the filing, as the NBA player claims to be “devastated” and willing to work through their problems.

The issues they had were evident on the E! special, “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding,”  where they disagreed about nearly everything and had completely opposing lifestyles.

The divorce has spurred a Kardashian backlash with fans angry with Kim for ruining the sanctity of marriage and outrage in the gay community for treating marriage with such nonchalance. But the real question that has come out of this scandal is whether the marriage was a complete scam or if Kardashian simply fell hard and fast for Humphries and married him on impulse.

I personally feel like Kardashian is obsessed with having a boyfriend and simply does not know how to function independently, but I also do not think that the Kardashians would pass up any opportunity to make money. It is unfortunate that she approached marriage in such a relaxed manner and that some young viewers of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” will think that it is acceptable to pull a stunt like this but sadly, that is today’s  Hollywood.
