Looking to expand your mind? An enlightening experience might be closer than you think. A new meditation club, started by junior Davis Belilty, is under way and looks to be a promising and peaceful activity to do after a long day sitting behind a desk.
Belilty, who was inspired by his longtime fascination with meditation, wanted to share this relaxing pastime with the student body.
With benefits such as improved memory, concentration, and self-esteem, a meditation club seems perfect for the active, hardworking population at North.
The club will be headed by Mr. Keshari, who is the advisor. Meetings are once or twice a month, but this is a rough estimate, as Belilty explains that members will decide themselves when will be the best time to meet.
The club is open to all, and Belilty says the only requirements are light, comfortable clothing, a pillow, and people who are “willing to pay attention and dive into their subconscious.”
The fledgling club already boasts approximately 30 prospective members, about 1/3 of whom are faculty. The students are mostly juniors, but Belilty hopes to attract other curious students from the other grades.
