‘Avatar 2: The Way of Water’ Floods the Theaters

The $1.9 billion movie is making its way to being recognized as the number one blockbuster movie of the year.

Actor Sam Worthington stars in the sequel of the long awaited Avatar movie. The thirteen year wait was well worth it in my opinion. No one thought that any other film, let alone its sequel, could top the original film’s success.  However, this film has surpassed ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Spider-Man:No Way Home’ in the top ten list of best movies ever. The training the actors and actresses had to go through during this film was very intense. For example, they had to learn how to hold their breath underwater for over five minutes even though more than half of the cast was over the age of 40-years-old.

Director James Cameron lets the audience into his imagination and manifests belief in the many themes of the film. A quick summary of the plot of this movie brings us to ‘Jake Sully’, one of the main characters in the film who used to be human, yet has now been transformed into a member of the Na’vi tribe. Since the last time he was on screen, he has started a family with ‘Neytiri’ who is played by actress Zoe Saldaña. They have three children (two sons and a daughter) and they are the guardians of ‘Kiri’ who is played by actress Sigourney Weaver.  Weaver plays her younger self in the film as opposed to her own character from the first movie. The primary messages depicted in this film are about family and how far people will go to protect the ones they love.

I rate this movie 9.5 out of 10 only because I am not a huge Avatar fan, but I did enjoy this film. I thought that it was brought together very well and told a fascinating story about the war between the ‘Na’vi’ and the ‘Sky-people’. The reason behind the long wait for this sequel was because Cameron wanted to finish the writing not only for this film but for the rest of them as well, so don’t think that this journey in Pandora is coming to an end anytime soon.
