On Point National Dance Competition, Warren, New Jersey
|WARREN, NJ| Sunday, April 15, Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, New Jersey held the On Point National Dance Competition for competing dance studios throughout New Jersey that lasted three days.
Ages ranged from five and six through eighteen at the competition, with studios from Northern, Western, and Southern Jersey.
The categories consisted of solos, group performances, and duets of performers in age groups 10-12,13-15, and 15-18.
The audience filtered in and out as the dancing ceased to find a halt, and parents, friends, and viewers looked to mainly watch their loved ones perform in the competition that lasted over 6 hours.
Cassidy Szymanski, twelfth year dancer at Next Step School of Dance in Lyndhurst, New Jersey performed in four dances during the competition at different times. “Feeling the heat from the bright lights is the best feeling in the world” she told her friends and family.
Students from Kelly’s Dance Loft in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey were also at the competition with some of Middletown North’s own students.
Understanding the effort, time, and passion behind each of the young people in the competition makes it more entertaining and worthy of watching. Constant practices, tiresome recitals, and all day competitions are what goes into the grace that these performers produce.
