International Women’s day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It celebrates social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The first International Women’s Day was observed on March 19 in the year 1911.

Worldwide events are held on March 8. Various women, including politicians, leading educators, inventors, entrepreneurs, and television personalities are usually invited to speak at various events on the day. Events may include seminars, conferences, luncheons, dinners or breakfasts. The messages promoted at these events often focus on various themes such as innovation, the portrayal of women in the media, and the importance of education and career opportunities.

The International Women’s Day logo is purple and white and features the symbol of Venus, which is also the female symbol.
