On January 8, James Franco won the award for Best Actor at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.

The Disaster Artist is a film based on a book that recounts the events behind one of the worst movies ever made. The movie has an all-star cast with actors such as James Franco, Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Nathan Fielder, Josh Hutcherson, and many more.

For those that don’t know, the inspiration for The Disaster Artist was a film titled The Room.  It was written, directed, and produced by Tommy Wiseau and is so bad that it’s actually good.  The acting is pitiful, the special effects are atrocious, and the script is poorly written.

Thankfully, The Disaster Artist is none of these things.  The performances everyone gives are absolutely great and are incredibly funny.  The film retells the events about the making of The Room and, according to Tommy, “The movie is 99.9% accurate.”

Despite the movie being a comedy, it is a tragic and inspiring story as well.  Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero both wanted to make it big in Hollywood and after all their hard work were essentially made fun of and critiqued ruthlessly.  Yet, as the years went by and the movie gained success, the duo have now achieved their fame.

Overall, the movie really has a nice message. If at first you don’t succeed, just wait about 10 more years and your mistake will be much more appreciated.
