Middletown High School North has announced that it will be hosting its first ever Relay for Life Color Run/Walk. It will be held October 20, 2018 here at North.

The run will kick off at 9:00 a.m, but check-in and packet pickup will start at 8:00 a.m. It will be held at field behind the school, where walkers/runners will complete three color-filled laps. Registration for the race is due by September 30 and the cost to register as a runner/walker is $18. Walkers/runners that register will receive a white t-shirt, as well as sunglasses and a classic race bib. You may also register as a spectator and throw non-toxic, colored, cornstarch powder during the event. The cost for this is $8.

The event is part of Relay for Life and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Middletown.  The three laps of the event celebrate those who have overcome cancer, honor those we have lost and support those who are currently battling.

The Lion’s Roar interviewed Mrs. Tara Mahoney, organizer of the event, about her purpose and reason for bringing a Color Run to Middletown North.

“It’s about bringing together and uniting a community. We are one community, one goal, one fight, and that’s what we want. If sometime in the future, we can eliminate somebody hearing the words ‘You have cancer’ then we’ve reached our goal. That is what we are fighting for.”

All forms/payments can be sent to Mrs. Mahoney, who can also be contacted for any additional information. Please make checks payable to MHSN.
