On Friday the 25 and Saturday the 26 of January, the Shore Conference Individual Wrestling Tournament was hosted at Red Bank Regional High School in Little Silver, New Jersey. Eleven out of the fourteen Varsity starters from the North wrestling team qualified to wrestle at the tournament.

The tournament was full of great competitors and many North wrestlers showed their skills by placing in the bracket of twenty-four. One wrestler that especially stood out was 106 pounder Tyler Klinsky. Klinsky has been having a great junior season and has remained undefeated.  He earned his 100th career win on Friday at the tournament. He continued dominating throughout the event, pinning a wrestler in the finals that has been ranked number three in the state.

Other wrestlers who performed exceptionally well this tournament included senior Jacob Anderson,  junior Fred Luchs and sophomore Thomas O’Keefe. Jacob, who has been having a dominating season, unfortunately had his match cut short due to an injury, resulting in a second place finish in the 195 weight class.  Fred Luchs had a dominating 3/4 match earning a technical fall victory over his opponent to place third in the 120 pound weight class. Thomas O’Keefe, the six seed in the 113 pound weight class, wrestled great as well, earning him a 4th place finish.

Overall, the SCT was a huge success for Middletown North Wrestling.  Come out and support the team as the season continues! See the Middletown North Website for athletic schedules and events.
