The Middletown North Girls Field Hockey Team began their season Thursday, September 6 against St. John Vianney. The Lady Lions earned a 5-1 victory over the Lancers.

The Lady Lions hosted a well-coached Saint John Vianney team on the grass fields. North was able to succeed in spite of the extremely hot weather thanks to great passing and teamwork. Two goals were scored by senior Amy Nuneviller. Senior Amanda Hallard, junior Olivia Cerbo and sophomore Jordana Tomasetti also scored one goal each. This was a huge win for the girls after losing to SJV last year 3-1.

The team this year is led by Senior Captains Amanda Hallard, Sarah Wilkie and Kerry McKittrick, who are all leaders both on and off the field. Their positive and encouraging words keep the rest of the team relaxed and focused.

The Lady Lions are coached this year by Jane Sieg. It is only Coach Sieg’s first year as head Varsity coach, but she has already had a positive impact on the team.  Her motivation and dedication to the team are easily visible and noticed by all her players.

The Lady Lions are looking forward to a successful, fun season and hope to have more big wins in the near future!  Come out and support the team!
