The 2018 Middletown High School North Lions softball program is looking to continue to be contender in the Shore Conference during the upcoming season.  The Lions completed the 2017 campaign with a 24-5 record including a perfect 14-0 record with their B-North Division. Second year Head Coach Chris Hoffman is looking for the Lady Lions to hopefully repeat as division champions and capture the Shore Conference and State Championships this year. The Lions coaching staff also includes: Assistant coaches Alex Apice, Marilee Farmer, Ally Zitzman, Mike McArthur, Kelsey Wilton, Moon Pak, Daniel Makepeace, and Joe “Book” Guy.

 

The Lions offense will look for returning All-Shore Selections Adriana Cerbo and Gabi Cerbo to lead the way.

If the Lady Lions are going to continue their success on the diamond, they will depend on a balance of returning starters and key newcomers.  The Lions will return many talented players including: Alyssa Vetrano SR. SS, Milena Wilton SR. 2B/3B, Gabby Cerbo SR. 1B/C, Adriana Noterile SR. P/OF/3B , Adriana Cerbo JR OF/C, Samantha Kanach SR. OF/1B,Karen Smith SR. OF, Cara McNulty JR. 2B/OF.  This group features many Lions that will be continuing their softball careers at the collegiate level in the fall. Vetrano, a 3rd Team All Shore selection last season, will be attending JUCO powerhouse Brookdale Community College. Milena Wilton, a APP Second Team All-Shore and All-Division selection will be attending the University of Hartford.  Cara McNulty will be going to St. Peter’s University, Adriana Noterile will attend Stevenson, and Sam Kanach is deciding between multiple universities. 

Senior Gabby Cerbo, whom was a 1st Team All Shore and All- Division selection will look to continue to build on a stellar career and is undecided where she will sttand school in the fall. The Lions will also look for their underclassmen to continue to add some punch the lineup including Junior Adriana Cerbo, whom was recognized as a 2017 2nd Team All-State, 1st Team All Shore and All Division selection.  The Lions also will lean on newcomers: Malori Bell (JR-P/3B), Olivia Cerbo (Soph-P/3B/1B), Mia Botti (Frosh-SS/3B), Ashley Kofsky (JR-1B), and Jacey Tammarro (JR-3B).

 

First ever winner of the Special Forces Belt, Dri Noterile

Coach Hoffman feels that this year’s squad has a chance to be special and he also believes that introducing fresh approaches each year will not only motivate, but keep also make these young ladies enjoy the season even more.  One of the ideas that Hoffman has implemented this season is the “championship belt” award.  

During the season, players whom are selected player of the game will be awarded with a championship belt that they athlete will keep in their possession until the next player of the game is announced” stated Hoffman.  Hoffman also stated that all of these new and innovative ideas will be cataloged through the teams new Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/MiddNorthSball
