Friday, April 27, Middletown High School North participated in the Day of Silence to support bullied and harassed people of the LGBTQ+ community who feel silenced against the hate.

Students from the GSA (Gender Sexuality Acceptance) Club went from classroom to classroom handing out purple and rainbow colored ribbons to students who wanted to show their support. Students who chose to wear rainbow ribbons had to remain silent all day and those students were given slips to show people to explain why they were not talking and what the Day of Silence is. Similarly, any student who wore a purple ribbon supported the community but were still allowed to speak.

Middletown North was a bit quieter on Friday as many students chose to wear the rainbow ribbon and remain silent. Hopefully, with days like the Day of Silence to remind us of the hate that the LGBTQ+ community faces, our school can stay as supportive as it was on Friday.
