DECA Business Club

Middletown High School North’s DECA Business Club is looking for new members! DECA is part of the business department and the club focuses on community service, fundraising and business competitions. There are many different types of competitions, from role-playing the part of a store employee in front of a judge to creating new products out of common household items. Each year, the competitions take place at the regional, state and international level; with ICDC, The International Career Development Conference, held in a major US city.

In the past, Middletown North DECA students have competed in Anaheim, California and Orlando, Florida. This year, students are reaching for the stars in Nashville, Tennessee.

Seniors Ashley Connelly and Sarah Palmer are leading the DECA members in the 2015-2016 Deca Chapter Awards Program. Ashley and Sarah are dedicated to promoting DECA throughout MIddletown North. They have been recruiting members at Freshman Orientation, Back to School NIght and the Co-curricular Fair. Their marketing efforts also include creating DECA bulletin boards,  marquees,  and display showcases.

In order to raise funds for Nashville, DECA students are hoping for a high turnout at their upcoming fundraisers. Monday, November 30, the New Monmouth Diner has agreed to donate 20% of sales to North DECA. Since this is a half-day, DECA is anticipating many hungry students will come out for local comfort food. Texas Roadhouse has also agreed to support DECA with 10% of sales on December 14. DECA is hoping to see many students and their families getting into the “country” spirit at Texas Roadhouse, just in time to get ready for Nashville!
