Last week our school’s freshman completed the annual two day long Biology State test. The test assess students on their retainment of knowledge acquired throughout the school year, and also tests New Jersey’s teachers and their ability to properly teach Biology. After interviewing several freshman, this year’s test received mixed opinions from students.
Nicole Puzo, who has Mr.Marotta as her teacher, is confident that she performed well on the test. She said that the open ended was in general pretty easy, while the open-ended was slightly more difficult. Nicole said that Mr.Marotta prepared her and her classmates well for the test, as he was a good teacher throughout the year and provided them with practice packets leading up to the test.
Like Nicole, freshman Lauren Ahearn, a student of Mrs.Matisoff, felt well prepared going into the test. She said Mrs.Matisoff provided her class with sample open ended questions and made sure every subject was clear throughout the year. However, Lauren thought that the test was a bit difficult. She said that her friends agreed that there were some subjects on the test that were not covered in class. Lauren agreed with Nicole in that the open ended was the trickiest part of the test. Last year, freshman also complained that the open ended was the hardest section of the assessment.
