Mrs. McGowan is North’s newest addition to the English Department.
She was born in New York City, New York, but grew up in Leonia, New Jersey. Mrs. McGowan spent ten years living in New York where she taught at a private high school for her first five years of teaching.
She has taught English in a multitude of countries, making her a well-rounded and experienced teacher. Following her five years teaching in New York, Mrs. McGowan spent a year teaching English in Japan. She has also taught English in Switzerland for four summers, one summer in Poland, and one in Romania, which is her parents’ native country.
Since then, she has taught English at Brookdale Community College, Rutgers University, and Monmouth University for the past five years.
Mrs. McGowan also enjoys listening to artists, such as The Bouncing Souls, Alkaline Trio, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen, and The Gaslight Anthem.
The students and staff of North look forward to welcoming her to our school and instilling her with North Pride.
