Swim Funding

In the funding of the school system for Middletown North, a good amount of money goes to the school’s extracurricular activities and clubs.  Deciding the amount of funding for clubs depends on multiple factors.

A common belief in some students is that activities that the school gives more funding to activities that they deem more important such as football or ice hockey. It is a popular belief that school funding is more bias towards their most popular sport and put greater funds towards it. Multiple interviewed club and sports members have stated that they believe they get the “rough end of the stick” when it comes to funding.

Of a few interviewed swim team members, all of them believe that the swim team could use more funding. Whether that could be chalked up to basic bias towards their own team, it is a common idea shared between some of the teammates. Swim team member, Patrick Kleid, said “It would be nice if we can have a little more funding. Maybe we could be able to use a pool a bit closer than Perth Amboy.” The swim team member claim that there could be improvements to their current system, but that they still enjoy the current one.
