On Sunday December 6th, the college football playoff selection committee were tasked with deciding which four teams who will advance to the semifinals , and which teams’ road to the national championship will come to a stop.

The committee selected the undefeated Clemson as the number one seed, as well as Alabama, Michigan State, and Oklahoma.

There will be two semi finalists games, the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic which will take place in Arlington, Texas, and the Capital One Orange Bowl which will be played in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic Preview: Alabama vs. Michigan State

Alabama coach Nick Saban will meet the team he coached from 1995-99 in the Cotton Bowl. Saban has lead Alabama to a 12-1 record and their second straight SEC championship. Heisman candidate running back Derrick Henry has been a massive piece to what has lead Alabama to this point. He broke Herschel Walker’s SEC single-season record with 1,986 yards rushing. On the other side of the spectrum, Michigan State, lead by star quarterback Connor Cook will make their second straight Cotton Bowl appearance. Cook has become the winningest quarterback in Michigan State’s history having gone 34-4 as the Spartans’ starter. Michigan State is looking for their first national title since the 1960’s.

Capital One Orange Bowl Prediction:

Clemson vs. Oklahoma

These two teams met in last year’s Russell Athletic Bowl where Clemson took home a 40-6 victory. Mobile quarterback and Heisman nominee DeShaun Watson has lead Clemson to an undefeated record with 41 total touchdowns on 3,512 passing yards and 887 rushing yards. But defeating the Oklahoma Sooners will not be an easy task. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has thrown 3,389 yards for 35 touchdowns and has been a huge part of the Sooners’ success this season.

Prediction: Alabama over Michigan State 35-24

       Clemson over Oklahoma 27-13

       Clemson over Alabama 24-21
