Many cheers were in order as Mrs. Geraldine Mahoney welcomed old timers and newcomers alike to the first Middletown HS North Drama Club meeting on September 10th.

Drama club is a close-knit community where anyone and everyone has a place. The club itself runs many fundraisers from Panera Night to makeshift carnivals to raise money for their annual Fall Play and Spring Musical. This year, the Fall Play is a murder mystery called Murder is in the Heir, and the Spring Musical is a comedy, the widely- known Addams Family.

This meeting also held elections for club officers. For the 2015/2016 year, the Drama Club Council members elected are as follows:

President Joseph Breen (12th grade)

Vice President Brian Kern (12th grade)

Vincent Ferrara (12th grade)

Gabrielle Longo (12th grade)

Justine Cataneo (12th grade)

Joseph Breen (12th grade)

Brian Kern (12th grade)

Kyle Kennedy (10th grade)

The council takes care of the finer details, from pulling together the fundraisers, to coming up with new ideas on how to make set, acts, etc. better, to voting on what the musicals and plays should be.

Drama Club sign ups are in Mrs. G. Mahoney’s room, and you can either audition for cast if you have a passion for the stage (remember, there are no small roles, only small people), hang backstage with set, prop, and construction crew, work in the balcony as lights/sound crew, or keeping it simple and elegant in G Mahoney’s room as costume and makeup crew.

There’s a place for you anywhere in Drama Club and new members are always welcome at any time, so don’t feel discouraged. They always need another set of hands!

Auditions for Murder is in the Heir will take place on September 25 and 29.
