The Middletown North varsity football team earned their first victory of the season by defeating Marlboro, 42-6.
It was an impressive first victory for the Lions (1-3), as they were led by a high-powered offense and stellar defense. Senior running back Joey Racioppi had three first half rushing touchdowns, along with 165 yards. Quarterback Cody Thompson also contributed by rushing for a touchdown, as well as throwing one.
The defense forced numerous fumbles and a key fumble recovery was made by senior Derek Brown, which led to a Racioppi score. Junior Rob Spinelli also had a fumble recovery in the game.
This was the first victory of hopefully many more to come for the Lions, who showed great improvements. They hope to build upon this victory and carry momentum into the upcoming games.
